Giving and receiving feedback
Good leaders communicate, but great leaders adjust their communication strategies based on their followers and the situations they are leading through (Hackman & Johnson, 2013).

Servant leadership
Servant leadership is servant first versus leader first (Greenleaf, 1977/2002). It focuses on the natural desire to serve that leads others to do the same, thus leading them as a result of serving (Greenleaf, 1977/2002).

Examine assumptions
Double-loop learning becomes necessary when single-loop solutions no longer work or when issues accumulate to the point where they no longer address the core problem. Then, it is time for the leader to address the underlying assumptions and beliefs that may be contributing to the challenges (Morgan, 2006). Leaders must move beyond the surface to examine organizational systems and the mental models guiding current practices (Argyris, 1997).

Trust and honesty
Often, trust or the lack thereof limits communication (Dirks & Ferrin, 2002).

Empower others
Empowering is more than delegating tasks; it is delegating authority. Empowerment is delegating decision-making power. Empowering is trusting others. Serving others by empowering them brings more outstanding and broader leadership out of people. Empowering people gives them room to be creative.
